Cute Diaper Bassinet

You all are probably getting tired of the baby stuff. My grandaughter will be here in August. For her baby shower I wanted to make something special and cute. Along with the newborn tu-tu I made to fit on top a onesie (I forgot to take a pic ot the tu-tu....darn it) this is a picture of her diaper bassinet.

The attendees at the shower loved it. If anyone is interested in learning how to make them; please leave a comment. I'm going to work on a written turotial to share is there is enough interest. The puppy dog in the bassinet plays the sweetest music when his tail is pulled. I just LOVE!! baby stuff.

  3. Thank you Cindy and Gayle. I messed up when I took the pictures. I had my camera set to low image resolution. It was like taking a picture with a cell phone.

Cindy, I will be happy to send you some instructions if you email me. It is really fairly easy to make. It is a bit expensive but for someone special it makes a beautiful centerpiece for a baby shower.

  6. Hi Cindy, It's fairly easy. You need to buy one large box of diapers, 4 baby blankets, cloth diapers, baby wash cloths, tulle, ribbon, lace, flowers, straight pins, and a plastic plate. Wrap the diaper box with one of the blankets then lay the other one on top top like the striped blanket, take the sets of baby wash cloths or any other soft items bought for the baby and lay them inside the other blanket, make a pillow by laying these soft items on the inside of this blanket then tie the ends with some pretty matching ribbon. Next use a one more blanket or other type of baby material to cover the large plastic plate, tuck the excess inside the back portion of the bottom (pink) blanket. This is the most difficult part. I would have used some duct tape to adhere the plate to the back of I would have thought about it. After the place is secure and in place you can start pinning the lace to the edges of the covered diaper box, tuck flowers around the edges after all of the lace is pinned. Bunch up some tulle to make a cascade of tulle to flow over the plate. I used ribbon to tie it all together then tucked a large flower on the top. Last part; roll up two to three cloth diapers to make each wheel and pin them to the sides of the base (diaper box) tuck flowers into the middle of them. Make sure you build this on a nice sturdy surface so it will be easy to carry. I had a thing wood board I ended up covering with some white shelf liner to make it pretty for presentation. I made a pretty "Welcome Baby" sign to hang on the front. This was a big hit at my daughter's baby shower. I would love to see a pic of yours if you decide to make one. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. You can email me by clicking on the "Email Me" link on the upper right hand side below my blog button. I hope I didn't leave anything out. Our little granddaughter is now 1 year old so it's been a while since I made this. I wish you the best and again, please feel free to contact me any time.

  7. When your new baby comes home from the hospital, they need a place to sleep! Newborns need to have special sleeping arrangements: some parents choose to go with baby cribs, but bassinets are another option that a lot of parents and children love.
