Single Line Alphabet

Cleversomeday from the Silhouette Plus Forum shared this wonderful find called RapidResizer. This awesome software is a free online Raster to Vector program. I am now able to easily convert fonts to a single line alphabet which is fantastic for sketching those sentiments. Please check out her blog to learn more. I promise it is worth the trip to visit her blog. She has so much there totally worth exploring around. Here is the link to her blog:

Check this out! this is one of my many favorite fonts. The font is the AR Decode font Bryan W from the forum s shared some time ago. It's one of my favorites. What I did after I converted it to .dxf was to open the .dxf file in Studio, release the compound path, group each individual letter, then select Make Compound Path. I also was able to easily create a .svg file but I forgot to add it to the zip file. Later on I will try to remember to do this and share it again. If you would like this font that is all ready to use in Studio for the Silhouette cutting machines, you can download it by clicking on this link:Single Line Alpha for Sketching Download Download

  3. Just an FYI for those who don't really understand the difference between a font and an alphabet. When a font is transformed into an SVG, it is no longer a "font"; it becomes an "alphabet", or image file. A true font is an installable system file, and the conversion is not a font any longer. I know a few of the newbies don't understand exactly what a font is in computer language, or how to install it. Some might try to install the new format or just copy and paste it into their fonts folder, and that of course won't work. I don't mean to be critical, but the difference in the two is substantial.

  5. Hi Debbie....I've been following you for a while on your videos. I'm new to the Sihouette but have fell in love with it. I recently tried my hand at sketching and didn't like the results. I was trying to 'write' my sentiment on the inside of the card and it kept going over things twice (not in my settings) and then the sentiments was blobbed up. I don't quite understand what this file is for but I went to download it to practice with and my McAfee will not let me enter that site....states it is a bad site. Could you explain this and the reason you even need to do this to a font? Thanks in advance....if it weren't for you kind folks that share your experiences with the Silhouette, most of them would be used for paper weights.

  6. Hi Mary, this alpha set can be used with your sketch pens so you get get something which looks more like hand writing because it doesn't have the outlines of a font because it is single line. Copy each letter you will need to use and past it on another studio work are, then position them to spell out what you would like. I just tried downloading the file from the old link and my Norton's gave me the okay. I no longer use this site because it became such a pain for people to download from it. I just now changed the download link and you should be okay to download it.I hope you enjoy using it. If you have any more questions please feel free to email me. My email link is on the upper right hand side of my blog. xxx- Debbie
